Design for Manufacturing (DfM)

DfM includes the creation of detailed 3D models and manufacturing-ready drawings. To produce such drawings the manufacturing process and production volumes shall be defined. The designer must have a broad range of manufacturing knowledge for the relevant materials. Moreover, the designer-engineer shall be familiar with the manufacturing equipment, and the required tooling.

DfM is usually integrated when A-Z Engineering is undertaking a product design project from scratch, but it is also applicable when there is already a concept design, a draft drawing, or a sketch or even a physical prototype.

A-Z Engineering provides consulting for the manufacturing process to be followed depending on the production volumes, alternative materials and geometry modifications. In this way, manufacturing costs can be dramatically reduced.
